Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are compressed by your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers or anyone else's — you can turn off your internet connection after the page loads and it still works.

How do I compress an image to a specific size, like 100 KB or 1 MB?

Choose “Target size” and enter the size you need. We find the highest quality that fits under that size, and if quality alone isn't enough, we gently reduce the dimensions too.

Which format gives the smallest files?

For photos, WebP and AVIF are usually 25–50% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality. JPG works everywhere. PNG is best for screenshots, logos and graphics with transparency.

Why didn't my PNG get much smaller?

PNG is a lossless format, so we optimize it without changing a single pixel — savings are usually modest. For a big reduction, convert it to WebP or JPG (JPG doesn't support transparency).

Is the photo's location and camera data removed?

Yes. Compressed images don't keep metadata such as GPS location, camera model or date taken. The photo is still rotated the right way.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 images at a time, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
